No legal maze — here’s exactly what happens with anything you share with HarperCo.
What gets collected
If you send a message through the site, we get what you typed: your name, email, phone if you include it, and what you told us about your business. If you book a call, Calendly processes the booking details you provide and passes the appointment to our Google Workspace calendar. If we work together, you grant read-only access to your accounting file under a signed agreement — never before.
Where it lives
Form messages are processed and stored by Netlify (the service that runs this site). Bookings are processed by Calendly; email and calendar run on Google Workspace. Client records live in the accounting platforms you control (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Sage) and in our working files — all password-managed, all with multi-factor authentication.
What never happens
Your information is never sold or rented, and what you tell us about your business is never shared with anyone for marketing. You’ll never get a marketing email from us unless you explicitly said yes to one (that’s the law — Canada’s anti-spam legislation — and also just manners). And on an Island this size, confidentiality is a written rule of this practice: what we learn about your business stays between us.
Cookies and advertising
This site can use the Meta Pixel. It is a small piece of code from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It sets a cookie so we can see which of our ads work. Meta also uses it to show our ads to people likely to find them useful.
The pixel tells Meta which pages you visited. It tells Meta when you send a message. It tells Meta when you book a call. It never sees what you type. It never sends your name, email or phone number.
In Quebec and outside Canada, the pixel stays off unless you allow it. Elsewhere in Canada, it is on until you turn it off. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we honour it and the pixel stays off. Your choice is kept in your browser, on this device. To know which rule applies, we set a small cookie named hc_region with your province or country, worked out from your connection. It holds nothing else and expires after a day.
You can turn off ad personalization in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
How long, and your say
Messages and records are kept while they’re relevant and deleted when they’re not. Want to see what we have, correct it, or have it deleted? Email dominic@harperco.ca or call 902-813-8175 — Dominic will handle it personally, usually the same day.
Plain language on purpose. For clients, the signed engagement letter governs the details. Personal information is handled to the standard of Canada’s federal privacy law (PIPEDA).
